Documenting My Thoughts

Why wanting a simple place to document my thoughts is among the many reasons I created a personal site.

I hate social media. This doesn’t seem like a particularly novel opinion in 2026, with many news outlets covering the apparent mass exodus of Generation Z and Millennials from these platforms.

The common narrative seems to point fingers at the underlying algorithms that these platforms use, and how they’re somehow acting like “digital crack” that pulls us into infinite doomscrolling, while somehow simultaneously making us angrier and more anxious the more we use those platforms. A lot of people like to blame the companies for making these platforms the way they are today. While these complaints aren’t unfounded, billions of people still choose to use them every day.

I understand that not everyone can quit social media cold turkey—as some rely on them for critical information or work—but I (mostly) don’t need them. The only social media platform I currently have is LinkedIn, and I already feel like that is too much. Once I no longer need to use it, I’m planning to delete it immediately.

Of course, I don’t want to be a hermit with no online presence at all. This is why this site exists; it’s basically a simple profile with my basic information and maybe a few dozen notes. This has many benefits, one of them being the fact that my profile won’t go down if any company decides to close down or goes bankrupt. Since I own the domain and the source code, I could move to another hosting provider within a day or even less. Plus, there are no obnoxious ads or tracking that my visitors would have to deal with.

There are a lot more things I’d like to write in the future, so stay tuned!
